Road trips are cool. The theory that the drive goes quicker without music was put to the test. Another discovery came in the form of Mother energy drink. You get to talk a lot, listen to music, sleep, clear your head, come up with fresh ideas and see things that you wouldn't usually.

this was done waaaaaay back in 1993. We thought it was funny that the koalas on the boat weren't wearing clothes while the one surfing had to wear pants.

We found a lolly store that had the goods in the window... but inside was filled with nanna lollies.

Why don't all shoe stores have these handles?

Snacks on the run. Got to keep the energy levels up.

When you tow a trailer that's about 2 stories high you have to expect to kill a few bugs. They would kill you if they had the chance.

It makes your snaps a little more interesting. Most certainly the best couple of bucks I've spent of late (not including the dagwood dog I puchased at the train station the other day).

So, I've been a bit slack with the whole regular post thing of late. A lot has happened over the past month. Not all good either. Apparently there is a global economic crisis and a lot of people are losing their jobs... myself included. At least I have a roof over my head and smarts inside my head. On the positive side it has made me stay at home and work on designs for t-shirts, write business plans and read more.

I grabbed a chew there last night with a mate. It's owned by Andrew McConnell who I thought was in The Highlander but it turns out he's the guy behind Circa and Three One Two.
I can't go past anything slow cooked so we smashed the octopus AND the pork strap. No photos of the food because we all know what food looks like.
The breakfast menu looks like a bit of alright so I dare say that I'll be back earier in the day.

Melbournians are definately spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out.

I forgot why I made the move to a point and shoot digital camera but I have rediscovered the first downside to relying on film a camera. It turns out that while I thought I was taking the best photos in the world over the past few weeks the film hadn't caught the reel and I was shooting nothing. DEVO.
Oh well. Lesson learnt. Time to move on.

The HATE corner

Heart shaped sunglasses. I hate these purely for aesthetic reasons. The only people that should buy these are little girls, they don't know any better. Big girls should not try to recapture their little girl by wearing heartshaped sunnies and big boys should not try to be little girls under any circumstance. I guess this guy didn't get the memo.

Motorized bicycles. These things are usually fuckin' loud and to me they defeat the purpose of riding a bike. No exercise, no saving the planet and no place left to dink your girl side sadle due to the petrol tank. Why do they even have pedals?!

Paying for soy sauce.

I'm pretty sure it flows naturally in some parts of the world. There is no reason why they should charge twenty cents for a fish full of soy.

Sour old men are funny to watch. They've figured out what they like in life, and more importantly, they have had a long time to practice hating. It's unlikely that an old man will kick your ass, but when they hate you it's pretty scary. It usually ends up that you do something small like hold a door open for an old lady and it changes their mind. Then they become your best friend which is almost as bad as having them hate you. Either that or they die so you don't have to put up with their hate any more.

This film looks like it has a lot of hate. A special kind of hate that can only come from a guy who played Dirty Harry.

Police shot 22yo Oscar Grant in an Oakland train station on New Years day while people watched and filmed it.

That was followed by a protest that turned into a riot.

It's kind of weird that these events haven't really been reported in the news over here. I guess if it made the news they would have to drop the story about Neville from Pakenham who ate a hamburger, was still full, so decided to order another one.

We checked out Santogold last night at Billboard in Melbourne. The place was packed and the sound was spot on!

She put on a brief yet awesome show. Santogold was joined on stage by her S1W stunt doubles and DJ Pressplay. No encore and no acts on after her lead to this:

A few hundred people heading to the only exit in the building.

Some said stuff it and just danced.

Being called 'Darl' by a hot tattooed woman when you order a drink is better than ice-cream with sprinkles on it.

I came across this trailer about a year ago. I still haven't heard if the film has been released yet.

I've been wanting a Pentax K1000 for a while now. Digi cameras are cool but you can't beat a nice SLR. After seeing a few in the city for about $400 I found one on eBay with an extra lens and managed to grab it for $150. It's in the mail. I can't wait to blast a roll off on the weekend!

Checked out the Kanye/Nas Glow in the Dark Tour on Friday night. Left my phone in the cab on the way in. I've come to grips with the fact that I'm never seeing it ever again. I hope it overheats and melts from all of the calls to India it will be making.

I didn't reall yget into the concert that much. Maybe it was the pre-drinks. Maybe it was the loss of my phone. Maybe it was Kanye's ranting. It didn't stop the rest of the crowd from having a good time.

This angry piece of work almost threw me out for taking pics. Who said dyed perms went out on the eighties?

After the show we stumbled to some birthday drinks. It got messy. So messy it prompted me to have an AFD on Saturday night even though there were MORE birthday drinks happening. What happened 9 months ago? It seems like there has been at least one birthday gathering for the past month and a half!

On Sunday we went to Chasers on Chapel Street to watch my mate Sam compete in a kick boxing tournament.

Unfortunately he didn't win. The fight was called off in the second round which was disappointing because he was looking good in the first.

I need a weekend to just chill out... wait a second, yep, two more birthdays on this weekend. I guess it's not happening anytime soon.

A Vero Beach man faces a domestic violence charge after authorities said he assaulted his girlfriend with a cheeseburger (is cooking dinner for your girlfriend counted as assault too?). An Indian River County Sheriff's Office arrest report said a 22-year-old man and his girlfriend got into an argument as they sat in a car in front of their home.

The report said the man would not let the woman out of the vehicle, so she threw his drink out of the car (her first mistake). In response, the man allegedly grabbed her arm and smashed the cheeseburger into her face (she should have opened her mouth. there are kids in Africa...). The pair got out of the car, and authorities say the man again took the McDonald's sandwich and put it on her face (this wouldn't of happened if she ate the sandwich when it was first pushed in her face like a good girlfriend).

The man was released on $1,000 bond Wednesday (that's a lot of cheeseburgers).

If he used this cheeseburger she'd be in a coma.

A man was trampled to death in the annual bargain hunting ritual known as Black Friday that follows the US Thanksgiving holiday.
The Age reports:
A worker was killed in the crush on Friday after a throng of shoppers eager for bargains burst through the doors at a suburban Wal-Mart, authorities said.

"He was bum-rushed by 200 people," co-worker Jimmy Overby, 43, told the Daily News. "They took the doors off the hinges. He was trampled and killed in front of me. They took me down too. ... I literally had to fight people off my back."

A police statement said shortly after the store's 5am opening time, shoppers "physically broke down the doors, knocking (the worker) to the ground".
Nassau County police said the 34-year-old worker was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 6am. The man's name was not released and the cause of death was not immediately known.

Homeless World Cup

The Homeless World Cup is on in Melbourne this week. Yep, carry extra change and prepare to get your windscreen washed if you're in the area. It seems like a few countries have bought in some ringers:

Cheong Wa Chau started his career as a professional football player in Hong Kong. Eventually, however, his compulsive gambling took control of his life and his behaviour. When his football team terminated his contract he was unable to find work and turned to his friends for loans. Eventually his friends broke off contact with him. In 2002 with his problems getting worse he became homeless.

The games look action packed. It's four a side on a 20m field with 7 minute halves. I'm going to check it out on the weekend.

"My life was drugs, alcohol and the gutter." says Tracey from Australia. That should be the slogan for the tournament.
